Working Principle

The LVD75D100H has a MOSFET control input and a DC thyristor output. The operating principle of the LVD75D100H is based on the voltage-controlled or current-controlled DC thyristor (SCR) module as the output device. In this system, the AC voltage and current are converted to pure DC and then the DC voltage is applied to the thyristor, and the thyristor becomes conductive to allow the current to flow in AC-DC conversion. During normal operation, a gate current trigger from an external power source is applied to the thyristor gate which forward biases it when the current reaches the latching current level. When the control signal is removed, a reverse current is then applied to the thyristor and the thyristor is turned off.

The control signal is applied to the MOSFET switch and the current is turned on and off as required, and the inductance can be utilized to filter out the pulse noise of the current. The MOSFET switch can also provide the necessary isolation between the internal control circuit and the external environment. The advantages of using the thyristor over other solutions such as relays or contactors are that it has no mechanical noise, high speed operation and low power consumption.
