Working Principle

The LX7309ILQ DC-DC switching controller regulates an output using a pulse width modulation (PWM) technique. Three comparators monitor the feedback signal and the ramp signal, along with an adjustable under-voltage lockout (UVLO). Upon turn-on or out-of-regulation conditions, the LX7309ILQ holds the output high.This actively regulates the output of the converter when the controller is in regulation, but it also allows for quick turn-on of the output. The output transistor is a low-side, N-channel MOSFET (NMOS) and the output power can be up to 30 watts.The LX7309ILQ is highly flexible and can be configured in several ways. The LX7309ILQ’s output voltage range can be specified from 0.6 volts to 6.5 volts, depending on the input voltage range chosen. Additionally, input voltage ranges from 2.5 volts to 28 volts and the LX7309ILQ can be configured to provide up to 85% efficiency with an output current up to 3A.The LX7309ILQ can be configured to work in either non-synchronous or synchronous modes. In non-synchronous mode, the LX7309ILQ’s two-phase architecture runs at a fixed frequency, which allows for lower output voltage ripple. In synchronous mode, the LX7309ILQ’s switching frequency is linked to the output frequency, leading to higher efficiency and higher ripple reduction effects.
