It is designed with power management, security and connectivity features that are aligned with the concept of a purely embedded system. It features a 32-bit RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) core, a 3V2 core-voltage supply and maximum operating frequency of 200MHz.
The M2S050-1VF400I is programmed using a C-language-like assembly language that is easy to understand, port and debug. The design and implementation of the M2S050-1VF400I also includes an array of libraries for use in a variety of embedded applications that are accessible through its associated development board. These libraries can be used to create software applications for control, communication, monitoring and more for embedded systems using the M2S050-1VF400I SoC.
The M2S050-1VF400I has an extensive range of digital peripherals which include 5x 10/100 Mbps Ethernet PHYs, 8x Multi-IO UARTs, 2x I2C-slave interfaces, 8x SPI master interfaces, 4x PWM signal generator outputs and two full-duplex SPI ports. The M2S050-1VF400I also features an internal oscillator for improved accuracy and a wide voltage range for more flexible power management. It has a comprehensive suite of connectivity solutions such as USB (universal serial bus), Ethernet and Wi-Fi/BT (blue tooth) that allow it to be easily connected to external devices.
At its core, the M2S050-1VF400I is a 32-bit ARM® Cortex™-M3 processor core running at up to 200MHz and powered by a 3V2 voltage supply. Its core features two levels of cache and the built-in enhanced debug with the ARM®DWT technology. Additionally, it features configurable and computationally-efficient supporting functions such as a helpful STAT (static) processor, several timers and counters, comparators, CRC (cyclic redundancy checker) engine, a QEI (Quadrature encoder interface) as well as an interrupt controller that provides interrupts during system start-up, debugging and application run-time.
In terms of memory, the M2S050-1VF400I includes 32KB combination instruction and data caches for improved performance. Furthermore, it includes 4MB of user-accessible LPDDR2 DRAM and an optional embedded QSPI (Quad SPI) flash memory. The M2S050-1VF400I also supports a wide range of analog interfacing solutions, with voltage range of 1V to 3V for talking and receiving analog data.
The M2S050-1VF400I is designed with an ideal combination of features to meet the embedded application needs in diverse and challenging embedded designs.
