Pin configurable/selectable oscillators provide a simple and cost-effective way to select from a wide range of output frequencies. These oscillators are usually offered in a dual-in-line package, and feature two or more very stable, low noise outputs with settings of fixed or selectable frequencies. The M685-02-AM-AQ oscillator belongs to this family of oscillators.Application Fields

Working Principle
The M685-02-AM-AQ oscillator works by generating an oscillation at a set frequency. This frequency is modulated with a set of programmable logic elements (PLEs). Each PLE is programmed to turn on and off at specific times, resulting in a modulated frequency output. The frequency of the output of the M685-02-AM-AQ oscillator is determined by the state of the PLEs.The oscillator is composed of four main components: a quartz crystal oscillator and three PLEs, each of which can be programmed to produce a different frequency. The quartz crystal oscillator generates an oscillation frequency, and the three PLEs modulate this frequency, resulting in an output frequency that can be changed dynamically.The programming of the PLEs is done with the two control pins, the Clock and Data pins.
