As the voltage continues to increase, the electrons gain enough energy to collide with the semiconductor’s atoms, creating a large number of electron-hole pairs. This large number of charge carriers significantly increases the conductivity of the device, allowing current to flow.
When the current is brought down to a safe level, the MA1.5KE250A automatically restores operation, returning to its normal state. This process works in both directions. If the voltage drops below the device\'s breakdown voltage, the device will return to its normal, non-conductive state.
Thanks to its unique design, the MA1.5KE250A offers excellent protection from voltage spikes. It has a normal voltage breakdown of 400V and can withstand up to 6kV as a surge or spike. It can also act as an ESD protectant, with high-energy absorption (400W) and low capacitance (3.5pF).
