Working Principle:

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are constructed in a manner similar to other electrolytic capacitors. An aluminum foil sheet is anodized so that its surface is hydrophilic. This is done in order to increase the surface area of the aluminum foil. A dielectric oxide layer on the surface of the anodized aluminum increases insulation and improves surface contact. A separator material is placed between two anodized aluminum sheets, and the assembly is rolled into a cylinder. The aluminum electrolytic capacitor also has a cathode terminal, a positive terminal, and a negative terminal.

When an external electric field is applied, electrons are transferred between the two terminals, with the positive terminal supplying electrons to the negative terminal. This transfer of electrons causes a current which creates a charge and a magnetic field. This magnetic field stores the electrical energy inside the capacitor. When the external electric field is removed, the electrons are released, thus dissolving the charge and releasing the stored electrical energy.
