Working Principle

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are designed with two aluminum foils, each in contact with a different electrolytic solution: the anode and the cathode. This layer then acts as a barrier, trapping charges and forming a capacitance between the two electrodes. The size of the capacitance is proportional to the applied voltage.
