Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are widely used in electronics industry because of their low cost, large capacitance and good frequency characteristics. The MAL215099301E3 is a special kind of aluminum electrolytic capacitors with a rated voltage of 100V, voltage range of 25V-100V, capacitance of 1000uF and a leakage current of 0.004CV (μA). It is used in a wide range of applications such as consumer electronics, motor control, telecommunications and automotive applications.The working principle of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is based on a thin aluminum oxide layer, which acts as an insulating barrier between the two conducting plates. The inner plate is made of aluminum and is covered with a thin aluminum oxide film. The outer plate is made of a metal material such as aluminum foil. Between the two conducting plates is a nonpolar liquid electrolyte, which conducts electric current on both sides. When a voltage is applied across the plates, an electric field is formed across the thin layer of insulating aluminum oxide film. This electric field brings about an electro-chemical reaction, which causes the aluminum oxide film to increase in thickness. This phenomenon increases the capacitance of the capacitor. When the voltage is reversed, the electrolyte breaks down and the aluminum oxide film shrinks. This lowers the capacitance of the capacitor. The problem with this behavior is that the capacitance of the capacitor changes with the applied voltage. As a result, manufacturers use special construction techniques to increase the capacitance and reduce the leakage current. Another key operating characteristic of aluminum electrolytic capacitors is the ability to store charge over time. This ability is called “called dynamic impedance”, which reflects the relationship between the variation of the current and the corresponding variation of the voltage, hence determining the stored energy.Applications of the MAL215099301E3 aluminum electrolytic capacitors vary, depending on the user’s requirements.
