The MAN6911C is capable of displaying characters and numbers up to 16 characters x 2 lines. The user can control the display through either serial or parallel control, and resolutions of up to 80 x 16 characters per display are supported. The display supports 8 standard ASCII fonts - including upper/lower case and international characters. Furthermore, the LED character and numeric modules can also be daisy chained, allowing up to 32 x 2 line display.

The MAN6911C has two kinds of internal control modes: Serial Interface Control Mode (SICM) or Paraller Interface CVontrol Mode (PICM). In the SICM mode, all characters that are sent out at the serial port of the module will be displayed in the areas of former characters that were present in the display – this is known as a serial address. In the PICM mode, the user can set the address, cursor, display and other functions to match the serial port. The instruction set can also be used to load characters to the data memory.

The operating voltage of the MAN6911C device is 5V DC, though it supports a range of voltage inputs from 3V to 8V. The power consumption is minimal, with the maximum power consumption being only 500mW. The viewing angle of the MAN6911C is also adjustable, with a viewing angle of 90 degrees. The brightness of the characters is also adjustable, with a range of 20mA to 50mA allowed. The durability of the LED display can also be extended to up to 50,000 hours. The display lightness can be adjusted with a single LED driver.
