The MAX14548EEVKIT+ is an evaluation and demonstration board designed to evaluate the MAX14548 Ultra-Low Power, Quad, I2C and SMBus 5.0V Ultracompact Hot-Swap Controllers. It offers users the flexibility to develop a wide range of battery-powered applications such as USB-C, PD controllers, power bank controllers, PDART controllers, etc. This evaluation board also can be used for basic embedded computing, desktop, laptop, and server designs.The MAX14548EEVKIT+ evaluation and demonstration board comprises two boards. The first board, the main board, has an MCP1630 High-Voltage (HV) Buck Converter to support a +8V to -8V output voltage range, and it also provides a regulated +3.3V output. It also has optically isolated SMBus access, controlling the charge pump output, and convenient displays and buttons to show and control the operation of the MCP1630. The main board is connected to the second board, the I/O board, via two connectors, allowing users to test their applications with the I/O board without any additional testing and debugging equipment.The MAX14548E EV Kit\'s main control board includes the MAX14548 Ultra-Low Power, Quad, I2C and SMBus 5.0V Ultracompact Hot-Swap Controller IC. This device provides ultra low power operation by featuring an internal DC/DC converter that directly supplies a low-voltage main supply with a wide eight volt input range. The Dynamic Power Management (DPM) feature can automatically reduce power consumption during periods of low load. It includes an internal charge pump, automatically senses the presence of an EN signal, and controls the Hot-Swap switch and power-good indicator. The ON/OFF control feature allows the user to control the power conversion enable signal for the entry of an external command.The MAX14548E EV Kit includes an HV Buck fixture and a resistance device to measure the current flow in different stages. The max current is 5A with ± 8V power bus.The kit also includes I2C/SMBus interface. It also includes a MAXQ4225 Ultracompact 3.6V Low-Dropout (LDO) regulator to provide a +3.3V output, as well as a wide range of simple control peripherals such as LEDs, pushbuttons, and an LCD.The MAX14548EVKIT+ makes the design and development process easier for engineers. It creates a simple environment for prototyping, debugging, and evaluating a wide range of applications, and allows them to develop their designs quickly and without any complexity. The MAX14548EEVKIT+ board main features are:

MAX14548E EV Kit uses I2C or SMBus communication protocol for communication between the main board and any other device. Both communication protocols use a two-wire serial bus consisting of a clock line (SCL) and a data line (SDA). SCL and SDA are Pulled up to the VDD and the Data is transferred bidirectionally between two devices. The basic communication model requires a single master device that generates the clock signal and multiple slave devices. The data is transmitted in the form of 8-bit packets consisting of seven address bit and a 8th bit for read/write control. It uses the I2C or SMBus battery charging protocol to detect the presence of devices, to set the device addressing, and to control power and data transfer. The MAX14548E EVKIT+ is a great tool for engineers to prototype, debug, and evaluate a variety of applications. It is designed to help with prototyping and development of applications such as USB C, PD controllers, power bank controllers, PDART controllers, etc. This evaluation board helps engineers quickly design and create simple and reliable solutions for their projects that require low power and robust design.
