The MAX14819ATM+T is a high-speed, 3.3V ±5% CMOS transceiver for Automatic Meter Reading (AMR), wireless service interface, wireless local loop (WLL) and control communication systems. The device transmits differential signals, such as RS-485 /RS-422. It provides as much as 7.5 kV of ESD protection on all AS, DE, DI, and DO pins. This device is designed to operate with two different 3.3 V power supplies to comply with AMR, WLL, and control communication systems. The MAX14819ATM+T provides improved noise immunity and enhanced common-mode noise suppression. It also provides excellent EMI control, allowing peaceful coexistence with wireless devices.
The MAX14819ATM+T is designed to interface between a microcontroller\'s logic signals and communications lines. The device either acts as a receiver or driver depending on the logic level at the direction control (DIR) pin.The MAX14819ATM+T continuously monitors the logic level at the DIR pin to determine which logic state to output. The device converts differential logic signals from the microcontroller to single-ended signals for the communications line.
The MAX14819ATM+T features a low-power shutdown mode when VCC is applied and the shutdown input is High. This mode reduces power consumption to less than 5 μA. A TTL LOW level applied to the shutdown input will allow the device to operate and receive signals from a communications line, without transmiting signals. When the shutdown pin is set to HIGH, the MAX14819ATM+T will automatically enter the low-power shutdown mode. It will also enter the low-power shutdown mode if the communications line is in standby mode.
The MAX14819ATM+T comes with an integrated filter module which allows it to reject high-frequency noise. The device also has a low-noise TSSOP package with pinouts compatible with standard transceivers, as well as ESD and surge protection.
