The MAX14781EESA+T is an automotive-grade, low-power, high-speed serializer/deserializer (SERDES) product from Maxim Integrated Products. It is used to isolate low-power, high-speed data transfer between two devices. The whole system is composed of a serializer, a transceiver and a deserializer.

The serializer transforms the high-speed data coming from an upstream device into a serialized format. It supports data transfers of up to 19.2 Gbps, and gives the flexibility to select from 1 to 18 lanes. The serialized data is then sent to the transceiver to transmit over a long distance via physical media. The receiver side is connected with a transceiver, which transforms the received data from the physical media into a serialized format, before forwarding it to the deserializer. The deserializer converts the serialized data back into a parallel format and sends it to the downstream device.

Working Principle

The MAX14781EESA+T Automotive Serializer/Deserializer (SERDES) works by transforming the parallel data into a serial form for transmission over long distances. The two sides are connected with an interface that can transmit data over point-to-point connections, over long distances and with low latency. It supports up to 18 lanes with data transfer rate up to 19.2 Gbps. The serialized data is sent to the transceiver, which transmits the data over physical media such as cable, PCIe, M-PHY and C-PHY.

At the receiver end, the transceiver transforms the received data from the physical media into a serialized format and sends it to the deserializer part of the MAX14781EESA+T family. The deserializer then converts the received serialized data into parallel format. The MAX14781EESA+T features exceptionally low power consumption, making it the ideal solution for automotive and consumer applications. Marked with an AEC-Q100 automotive grade, the MAX14781EESA+T is designed to tolerate high temperature, hot plugging and high humidity.
