Analog to Digital converters (ADCs) form a core component of almost all digital systems today. The MAX147EVC16-DIP is a 16-bit, arbitrarily programmable, resolution evaluation board from Maxim Integrated Products designed to evaluate the performance of anti-aliasing filters, ADCs, and digital filters.

Overview of the MAX147EVC16-DIP

The MAX147EVC16-DIP evaluation board contains a 16-bit resolution ADC and an anti-aliasing filter made of a switched capacitor process. It is intended for use with the MAX147 evaluation system. This evaluation system contains a PC-based signal generator and a 16-bit S/PDIF digital audio recorder.

Working Principle

The MAX147EVC16-DIP contains an on-board AD8571 16-bit ADC for performing this task. The ADC is powered by an on-board quartz crystal, and has a sampling range of 0 to 4 Gbps. The ADC operates at +/- 15V for dynamic performance. Finally, the ADC is connected to the MAX147 evaluation system via the sample acquisition cable and is controlled via the Max147 software.
