The MAX14920ECB+ is a power management integrated circuit (PMIC) specifically designed for battery management. It integrates analog and digital functions, making it ideal for charging, balancing, and protecting batteries in many different applications such as laptop PCs, tablets, and cellular phones. The voltage-sense and current-sense inputs monitor the voltage and current of each individual cell. This device also features internal FETs to regulate the charge and discharge functions of each cell separately. The FETs are protected against short circuit and thermal overload, eliminating the need for external fuses. The internal loop compensation allows for reduced external components, allowing for a minimalistic design for higher efficiency.
