MAX1605ETT+ Application Field and Working Principle

The MAX1605ETT+ is a voltage regulator and DC/DC switching regulator from MAXIM Integrated, part of their family of Power Management ICs (PMICs) Voltage Regulators, and the DC/DC Switching Regulators product line. It is an integrated voltage regulator that operates over a wide input voltage range of 0.45V to 20V, and consists of six channel independent low output voltage linear regulators and two Low Dropout (LDO) linear regulators.

Its applications include precision analog circuit supply in high-speed communications, personal computer peripherals, network interface cards, peripheral devices and printers. The MAX1605ETT+ is an ideal fit in the supply of analog circuits such as voltage amplifiers, A/D converters, and analog signal processingmodules.

The MAX1605ETT+ offers high working efficiency and can operate with very small external components. It offers adjustable voltage inputs and options for single/dual output voltages, which make it a good match for DC/DC switching applications. The device is designed to draw only very low quiescent current and provides a wide range of over-current and over-temperature protection features.

The MAX1605ETT+ DC/DC switching regulator operates through two principle steps. The “power conversion” step involves controlling the output with the integrated voltage regulator and then in the second “power switching” step, the internal DC/DC switching regulator adjusts its output voltage based on the amount of current passing through the internal switch. The MAX1605ETT+ provides the option of adjustable output voltage suitable for most DC/DC switching applications.

The MAX1605ETT+ incorporated adjustable output voltage range from 0.45V to 20V, with minimum dropout voltage of 0.1V, and adjustable current limit settings up to 1.2A. This integrated device is powered by an internal transformers and rectifiers, with both synchronous and asynchronous rectification options. It also integrates high-performance circuit features, such as DC offset, quad-channel power MOSFETS, and hysteretic current limit.

It can be configured to use either single-ended or dual-ended voltage sources, and it supports both P-Channel and N-Channel MOSFETs to control the output. The P-Channel MOSFET is used to switch off the output of the chip, while the N-Channel MOSFET is used to switch on the output of the chip. The device can also be configured with a sense resistor to precise regulate the output voltage at different load currents.

The MAX1605ETT+ has a wide input range that can operate from 0.45V to 20V. It also provides adjustable current limit settings.
