Working Principle of the MAX1673ESA+

The MAX1673ESA+ is a DC/DC synchronous buck switching regulator that uses a switching technique to convert an input voltage (Vin) to a regulated output voltage (Vout). It features an adjustable output voltage range from 2.5 V to 5.5 V, output current up to 1.5 A, and a wide operating input voltage range from 2.0 V to 16 V. The device includes an internal voltage-mode digital PWM controller and the necessary power switches to form a complete voltage regulator. The internal digital PWM controller operates in an open-loop, non-linear control fashion and drives an external N-channel power MOSFET. The PWM controller provides a high peak-current slew rate, low output noise, and excellent line and load regulation.
