The MAX16812ATI/V+ also implements a Fold-Back feature which reduces the current drawn by the LEDs in the event of an over-voltage or over-temperature situation, thus providing greater protection to the user from unexpected conditions. The MAX16812ATI/V+ can be configured to either a buck only or a buck-boost topology, providing a wide input range of 4.5 - 52V, while maintaining a steady output of 3.2V - 8.5V. The device also features short cycle protection, an open LED detect circuit and a PWM dimming input, which can be used to dim the LEDs in either short pulses or frequencies.The overall working principle of the MAX16812ATI/V+ LED Driver is based on providing efficient power management for the LEDs.
