The MAX16814ATP/V+ is a high-efficiency, low-saturation, and high-accuracy boost converter LED driver. It is a compact, low-power and high-performance solution for driving single, dual and triple light-emitting diodes (LEDs) from input voltages up to 45 volts. Working Principle
The MAX16814ATP/V+ consists of several internal parts, starting with the SEGA switching converter, a comparator, and a low-time-constant loop that dynamically tracks the input voltage, providing fast transient response and tight line regulation over variations. Its internal boost switching converter uses an inductor and capacitor to create a constant-current source. As the load demand is changed, the resistance at the output determines the output current, which is then monitored and regulated by the internal circuitry. This ensures that output current remains constant over temperature and line voltage variations.
The MAX16814ATP/V+ incorporates a low-time-constant feedback loop for over-voltage protection and a fast transient response. It uses hysteretic current-mode switching to provide a wide-duty-cycle range and improve the loop response to input transients. It also features a double-drain diode to provide brief current spikes, which allows the boost and associated components to operate over a wide temperature range.
The MAX16814ATP/V+ also provides an adjustable over-voltage (OVP) threshold, adjustable soft-start time, and adjustable average current limiting. It also features low quiescent current, over-temperature shutdown, and thermal overload protection. This LED driver also offers adjustable output current ramp-rate control and power-on-reset.
