<p>The MAX16835ATE+T LED driver is a primary side constant current LED driver digital controller optimized for high-end LED lighting systems. It integrates multiple techologies from digital control, analog voltage and current control, and Smart-Programmable to offer a wide range of lighting applications and sophisticated functions. Additionally, its constant current accuracy is improved from 0.5% to 0.3% enhances Visible Light Transmisson (VLT), improved Color Rendering Index (CRI), higher Luminous Efficacy (LE), efficient dimming and excellent light quality.</p><p>The MAX16835ATE+T combines four key techologies to compensate kindey voltage loss and reduce power loss ensuring constant current accuracy, excellent dimming performance and proper striking. These techologies include:</p><ul> <li>Voltage Error Correction (VEC): This technique uses deduction of the forward voltage algorithm to track variable data points, providing extended range and ultra accurate current sensing to 0.3%.</li> <li>A very wide range of programmable dimming modes that support precision analog dimming, PWM dimming and digital dimming for further optimization.</li> <li>A powerful loop control that monitors and constantly adjusts for the correct current level, maintaining a consistent current level throughout the entire dimming range.</li> <li>Bidirectional Current Drive (BCD), which is a two-level, two-phase PWM control. With BCD, the MAX16835ATE+T divides the “diode” into two separate sections, which are the Anode and Cathode, to maximize the efficiency providing twice the number of driving phases, resulting in improved dimming performance and decreased line losses.</li></ul><p>The MAX16835ATE+T is highly customizable with up to 6 general-purpose pins that can be used to set scaling factors and configuration settings. A 7-bits DAC is also available for a more precise dimming that can be set with a single serial digital command. In addition to this, the chip offers a maximum power-saving operation, with a sleep mode that reduces power consumption by up to 99.99%.</p><p>The chip works in two modes: normal mode and constant-current mode. In normal mode, the MAX16835ATE+T sets the drive current to a constant level by controlling a bias voltage. In constant-current mode, it sets the drive current to the programmed level by controlling the magnitude and duration of the PWM switching cycles. The constant current accuracy is improved by dynamic feedback control to compensate for voltage losses, thus maximizing LED efficiency.</p><p>The MAX16835ATE+T LED driver is suitable for applications such as LED surge lighting, LED outdoor lighting, LED tube lighting, lighting rods, light poles and more. It is also compatible with a wide range of alternative light sources such as fluorescent and high pressure sodium, making it an ideal solution for a variety of lighting applications. The high accuracy and excellent dimming are well suited for many lighting design requirements.</p>
