MAX16956AUBF/V+T is a Dual Step-Down DC-DC converter, and is part of the MAX16956 family. This family of products from Maxim Integrated are DC-DC switching regulators that are specifically made for managing multiple power supplies in space-constrained applications, such as smartphones and wearable devices. The MAX16956AUBF/V+T specifically is a two-phase buck regulator with two integrated low-side power switches and two low-side switches with integrated auto-leveling adaptive body diodes. Each phase can operate independently, allowing flexibility and tuning of both current-mode and voltage-mode control loops. The versatile input voltage range of the MAX16956AUBF/V+T ranges from 4.5V to 28V allowing it to be used in a wide range of applications. In terms of workings operation, the MAX16956AUBF/V+T is controlled by two digital pins, which can be used to select between three operating modes: pulse frequency modulation (PFM) mode, pulse width modulation (PWM) mode, or a burst mode. For PFM mode, the device can be configured to switch over to burst mode when the input voltage drops below the programmed threshold, allowing the device to dynamically operate in the PFM mode with high efficiency at higher loads.In the PWM mode, the device can operate in fixed frequency up to 500kHz. Lastly, in burst mode, the device can enter a low-power sleep mode when there is light load, and will automatically wake up and regulate the output when the load increases. The MAX16956AUBF/V+T has an output voltage range of 0V to 6V and a output power rating of up to 20A.
