The board provides a complete system solution including power factor correction (PFC) and overvoltage protection (OVP).

Working Principle: The MAX17531ATBEVKIT# evaluation board is based on the dual-channel flyback controller, MAX17595 offline trigger controller, MAX17595 LED driver, and MAX17596 LED driver. It provides an integrated PFC and OVP solution. The evaluation board can run in both Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) and Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM). In CCM, the inductor current remains above the minimum fraction of a single cycle. This results in a smooth and efficient output voltage profile. In DCM, the inductor current will drop to zero between peaks. With this operation mode, there is good high-line efficiency and a smaller output filter.
The MAX17531ATBEVKIT# evaluation board has an integrated synchronous rectifier scheme—which reduces power losses in the back-end stage. It also features an integrated waveform shaping circuit, allowing designers to customize the output waveform profile in conventional flyback controllers, creating a more robust design.
