The MAX17552AUB+ is a switcher-mode DC-DC converter designed for buck electric power conversion. The device operates from a 5V VCC supply and provides a regulated 3.3V output voltage from an input voltage programmable from 2.8V to 17V. At light loads, the MAX17552AUB+ operates in Pulse-Frequency Modulation (PFM) mode. At medium and high load levels, the converter switches to PWM mode and provides excellent efficiency over the entire specified load range.
The internal compensation circuit provides optimal stability with a minimum of external components and a wide range of output capacitor selections. An internally regulated output voltage is programmable from 1.2V to 3.3V using a single external resistor. A high-precision voltage reference and a 0.8% total tolerance with a ±1.5% initial accuracy provides tight load regulation. The PFM mode turns off the output switch to enable high-light load efficiency with low quiescent current.
The MAX17552AUB+ also incorporates an adjustable soft-start time that allows for longer start-up time and compatibility with a wide range of output capacitors. Additional features of the MAX17552AUB+ include a power-good (PG) output indicator, a fixed-frequency PWM oscilator, and a power-save mode.

Working Principle
The MAX17552AUB+ is a battery-powered, boost or buck converter that can operate from an input voltage of 2.8V to 17V.
