The MAX17682ATP+T is a dual loop, high-precision, pulse-width-modulated (PWM) DC/DC switching regulator that is capable of obtaining a wide variety of outputs. Working Principle
The MAX17682ATP+T is a pulse-width-modulated (PWM) switching regulator that is based on a two-loop feedback system. The voltage/current regulator loop sets the output voltage/current, while the power/temperature loop ensures that the load current is limited to an appropriate value and that the operating temperature remains within the specified limit.The voltage/current regulator loop consists of the regulation circuit, the PWM generator, the LDO, and the output transistor. The regulation circuit compares the output voltage and current to the reference voltage and current. A fake reference voltage is also provided to the regulator circuit to reduce system noise. The PWM generator generates the pulse width modulation signal as a function of the error between the output and reference values. The output transistor then follows the PWM signal and provides the current to the output. The LDO is used to give the regulator a start-up voltage.The power/temperature loop consists of the power/temperature monitor, the peak/average current limit, and the thermal regulation circuits. The power/temperature monitor monitors the load current and output voltage and provides feedback to the power/temperature loop. The peak/average current limit circuit limits the peak and average current to predetermined values. The thermal regulation circuits force the output voltage/current limit to decrease with increasing temperature, thereby maintaining the thermal junction temperature within a safe range. The MAX17682ATP+T features a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, as well as current regulation from 0.45A to 5.5A, voltage regulation from 0.6V to 7V, and an adjustable current limit range of 0.5A to 5A.
