The MAX17682ATP+ is an advanced synchronous step-up DC/DC converter with integrated power switch, dedicated for use in space-constrained mobile applications. It employs a high effciency, constant frequency based architecture, allowing for a single input voltage mode of operation and focusing on optimizing power transfer efficiency. The device provides a regulated output voltage at up to 18V with low ripple in a miniature, 6-lead WLCSP package. This device is ideal for providing a reliable and variable output voltages for use in portable applications such as smartphones, digital cameras and computers.
To provide a regulated output voltage, the core of the MAX17682ATP+ is its built-in power switch and voltage regulator. This converter uses a voltage regulating approach to ensure a stable output voltage as the input supply voltage changes. The power switch is responsible for the actual control of the power transfer between the input and output voltages while the voltage regulator limits the output voltage to the desired value. This is done by comparing the actual output voltage with the preset reference voltage, and then adjusting the power switch duty cycle in order to decrease or increase the output voltage depending on the actual output.
The MAX17682ATP+ features an internal reference voltage of 0.6V, providing an extremely frequency-dependent power transfer efficiency. Moreover, the device also integrates skip-cycle control, reducing system noise. It is designed with a low-noise-mode operation, and requires no external components such as inductors, capacitors, and Schottky diodes.
The MAX17682ATP+ is ideal for portable and mobile applications, such as tablets, mobile phones, digital cameras, and industrial systems that require low quiescent current and high power density. Its 6-pin ultra-small WLCSP package allows for thinner, lighter, and more efficient designs, as compared to bulky and heavier PCBs.
