The MAX1776EUA is a high-efficiency step-down switching regulator ideal for low output current, low input voltage applications, such as battery and cell phone chargers, and other low power applications requiring highly efficient regulators. The MAX1776EUA is a current mode pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller with a very low quiescent current, and an internal switch-lock that enables faster start up time. It features an input voltage range of 4.7V to 28V, and adjustable outputs of 0.8V to 40V.

The high-efficiency of the MAX1776EUA is achieved through its synchronous rectification and internal switch with low RDS(ON) (<0.17 ohms), which reduces switching losses and improves power dissipation. The MAX1776EUA also offers a high switching frequency (1MHz-16MHz) and a wide range of output current (up to 4.5A). The device also offers a low quiescent current of 1mA typical, thereby improving system efficiency even further. Additionally, the device features a built-in thermal shutdown circuit and an adjustable soft-start feature that provides an optimized and safe start-up of the circuit.
