MAX1809EEE+T Application Field and Working PrincipleMaxim Integrated’s MAX1809EEE+T is a highly integrated, low-power Voltage Regulators for special purpose applications. It provides power management for small and low voltage systems, including DC/DC, switched Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) and Point Of Load (POL) converters. The MAX1809EEE+T integrates high-precision voltage regulation and high-current, low-noise, synchronous rectifier support to provide a low-power, cost-effective solution to power management applications such as microprocessors, set top boxes, and mobile devices. The MAX1809EEE+T integrates a voltage regulator, synchronous rectifier support, and internal, low-noise voltage reference into a single low power solution. It provides precision adjustment of output voltage from 0.8V to 12V and up to 1.3A load current, depending on input to output voltage differential. It supports 3-2.85V to 6V input range, 2.0V output voltage, and 2-20V Spread Spectrum ranges. The wide input voltage range makes it possible to operate the MAX1809EEE+T in a wide variety of applications, including those requiring increased efficiency and higher power management performance. The MAX1809EEE+T integrates a high-performance voltage regulator and low-noise, high-current, synchronous rectifier support. The voltage regulator provides +0.7V to + 2.0V output voltage accuracy over the entire input voltage range, and 0.8V to 12V adjustable output voltage range. The synchronous rectifier support circuit provides improved efficiency and up to 1.3A load current, depending on input to output voltage differential. The device also features an adjustable over-temperature and soft-start protection circuits that protect the device from over-current, over-voltage and short circuit conditions.The MAX1809EEE+T features a low quiescent current, reducing power dissipation and power supply requirements. This allows for voltage regulator performance with minimal power reduction to preserve battery life. It also provides a logic signal to enable/disable the output device and a logic signal to signal over-current/over-temperature conditions to the system logic used in various control and protection applications.The MAX1809EEE+T operates in forced-PWM mode which is used in mid-voltage current-mode switching supplies and high efficiency point of-load converters. Forced-PWM mode reduces the current shoot-through effect that exists in traditional PWM mode, due to the presence of a diode connected between the positive and negative power surfaces. This improves efficiency and reduces noise, while also providing excellent current regulation accuracy.Overall, the MAX1809EEE+T is a small footprint voltage regulator that provides a low power and cost-effective solution for power management applications. It features precision output regulation, high-current and synchronous rectifier support, and adjustable over-temperature and soft-start protection. Its wide input voltage range provides improved system efficiency and performance, making it ideal for a variety of applications including microprocessor, set top boxes and mobile devices.
