MAX1977EEI+T Application Field and Working Principle
The MAX1977EEI+T is a special purpose, voltage regulator PMIC (Power Management IC) that is specifically designed to be a front-end voltage regulator IC. It is used in applications where very high efficiency and very high voltage regulation accuracy is required. This device is used in applications such as Lighting, Automotive, and Industrial power systems.The MAX1977EEI+T is a three-phase synchronous buck regulator IC. It has a voltage mode control with cycle-by-cycle current limiting and is capable of operating up to a maximum frequency of 1.9 MHz. The device features a fixed single-output PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) operating from 0.8 V to 5.5 V, a single-output LDO (Low Drop-Out) operating from 0.8 V to 5.7 V, and a dual-output LDO operating from 0.9 V to 3.2 V. The device also features an adjustable soft-start time of 1 to 10 ms.When the device is enabled, it uses a powerful charge-pump circuit to step-up the input voltage to the required level, after which the output is regulated using a closed-loop PWM control scheme. When the load is light, the device self-adjusts its frequency in order to reduce power consumption. The device also features built-in cycle-by-cycle current limiting as well as over voltage protection, under voltage lockout, over temperature protection, and short circuit protection.The MAX1977EEI+T also has a bypass pin which can be used to bypass the device when the load is light. When the bypass pin is enabled, the device will automatically enter into a low-power standby mode, thereby reducing power consumption even further.The MAX1977EEI+T is manufactured using state of the art CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) process technology, which provides a high degree of integration, low power consumption and superior performance.
