Power management integrated circuits (PMICs) are essential for any microprocessor, especially those used in handheld devices and embedded applications. The working principle of MAX20323DENC+ is based on the Step-Down Buck Regulator topology. The voltage is regulated through two stages of components: an inductor, a diode, a metal-oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET). The buck converter is configured so that, as the input voltage increases, the voltage drop across the MOSFET decreases, allowing it to increase the voltage output to the load. The converter, which controls the MOSFET switching state, is typically called a PWM controller.
