The MAX31826MUA+T is a digital thermocouple temperature sensor which is designed for applications demanding precision, robustness, and accuracy. Temperature is accurately measured using the thermocouple input and the sensor is also able to interpret data from two thermocouple types (K or J). The sensor provides temperature outputs in degrees Celsius, Fahrenheit, and calibrate thermistor input. It is used in temperature measurement, temperature control systems, automotive, industrial, medical, aerospace, and home appliance applications.

The device operates from a single-supply voltage ranging from 1.0V to 3.5V. It integrates a 12-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) with cold-junction compensation. The device is hardware-configurable to measure two thermocouple inputs or two thermistors with a single integrated circuit. This integrated device also contains a non-volatile memory. The memory stores configuration settings, offset values, and calibration values. The configuration settings may be stored in the non-volatile memory, allowing the device to revert to default settings on power cycle.

The MAX31826MUA+T utilizing thermocouples is capable of measuring temperatures up to 600°C and thermistors up to 175°C. Its wide temperature range and excellent accuracy makes it suitable for a variety of applications and a wide range of thermocouple types can be used with this device. The device also offers excellent linearity in its digital output and can be read using the integrated I²C bus.

The device is designed for easy implementation in low power and multi-channel applications. The device can be controlled programmatically with the I2C interface, where the user can configure the device to measure two thermocouples or two thermistors. The device has two input pins, one for thermocouples and the other for thermistors. The thermocouple inputs have cold junction compensation and the thermistor inputs are also compensated, maximising the accuracy of the measurements.

The MAX31826MUA+T also features an internal threshold detector. This feature detects temperature limits that user can set by programming the registers. When the temperature threshold is exceeded, an alarm is triggered.

The device consumes a maximum current of 25µA and has a low power shutdown mode which reduces the current consumption to 0.1µA. The device supports a wide range of digital communication interfaces like I²C, SPI, and UART. The device has a single conversion time of 500ms for a single channel measurement, and 800ms for two channels. It also features over-temperature protection.
