The MAX4205EUA+ is a precision low-power operational amplifier (op amp) and ideal for a wide range of applications, including instrumentation and buffering. It is particularly well suited for low-noise preamp or buffer applications and offers stability true to specification over temperature and frequency. With its low current of 4.3 microamperes (mA) and low input offset voltage of 220 microvolts (mV), the MAX4205EUA+ is an excellent choice for design engineers.The MAX4205EUA+ can be used in a variety of applications requiring low noise, high precision, low drift and low power consumption. It can be used as a single or differential amplifier, as an active filter, for gain control and for a variety of other signal conditioning applications. In addition, its wide bandwidth and fast response make it suitable for high-bandwidth applications, such as data converters.The MAX4205EUA+ is a bipolar-input op amp with an open-loop ( OL )gain of 120dB, GBP of 5GHz and a slew rate of 5V/μs. It offers many features that make it especially well suited for noise-sensitive applications. For example, it has a low operating current of 4.3mA and a high input impedance of 1 megaohm ( Mohm ) which basically eliminates the need for input buffer amplifiers. In addition, the MAX4205EUA+ has an excellent common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of 85dB and an excellent PSRR of –76dB.The MAX4205EUA+ is well suited for low-noise preamplifier or buffering applications due to its low input offset voltage of 220μV and low error offset drift. This means it can hold a signal steady and exact over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies. The MAX4205EUA+’s low noise is also key to its precision performance. The low noise ( 4.6nV/sq-Hz typical, 11nV/sq-Hz max ) at DC eliminates the possibility of unwanted signal distortion due to background noise.The MAX4205EUA+ is designed for use with a single 5V supply, a dual ±2.5V to ±5V supply, or a dual ±5V supply. It is available in 8-pin SO or 8-pin MSOP packages with exposed thermal pads. It has a temperature range of –40 to +125°C and its ESD tolerance is 5kV in human body model (HBM).
