MAX4521CEE+T Application Field and Working Principle

Introduction

MAX4521CEE+T is a monolithic quad SPST analog switch IC intended for high speed multiplexing applications which is fabricated with advanced CMOS technology. It has four independent analog switches. These channels are grouped as two differential and two single-ended endpoints each having their own common port. MAX4521CEE+T family of devices is suitable for variety of applications such as audio and video switching, filtering and level translation as well as an Active Differential Probe.

Application Fields

Working Principle

The working principle of the MAX4521CEE+T is based on CMOS technology and uses four independent channels in an open drain architecture. Each channel consists of two pairs of switchess and their respective p-channel and n-channel MOSFETs. The Control Inputs decide whether OFF (G) or ON (S) is the output position of the switch each time. When the control input is low, the nMOSFET will turn ON and the pMOSFET will turn OFF. This will connect the output to its common terminal. When the control input is high, the nMOSFET will turn OFF and the pMOSFET will turn ON, connecting the output to its corresponding switch output. The MAX4521CEE+T is able to switch quickly, because of its low propagation delays and rise/fall times, enabling it to multiplex signals at speeds of up to 2 ns. The MAX4521CEE+T offers low off isolation and low leakage current of up to 1uA.
