PMIC - Gate Drivers
The MAX5064BATC offers efficient gate drive for synchronous buck converters. MAX5064BATC is well suited for Point-of-Load (PoL) applications from 700 mA to 2 A output current and generally used to build highly efficient and reliable Point-of-Load power supplies. The device is available in 5-mm × 5-mm thermally enhanced QFN package with exposed paddle. The MAX5064BATC includes the advanced features of the MAX5064 family, such as integrated soft-start, low gate-charge drive, external sense resistors, fast transient response, programmable slew rates, and tracking/synchronous features.

Working Principle
The MAX5064BATC is an advanced gate driver for switching applications. It employs advanced charge-coupled drive techniques for extremely low on-resistance drop, low quiescent current, minimal EMI and reduced shoot-through. The MAX5064BATC employs an integratedcharge pump to generate boot strap voltage. The MAX5064BATC also includes an integrated comparator to precisely monitor and regulate the bootstrap voltage dependent on the load current. The integrated bootstrap switching regulates the bootstrap loop with an accurate enable threshold voltage.
The MAX5064BATC package integrates the sense resistors, thus vastly simplifying the circuit requirements. An external decoupling capacitor across the VCC and GND pins along with a small ceramic capacitor across the OUT and /OUT pins are required for optimal operation. Further, the MAX5064BATC can be applied for the purposes of over-voltage protection, by monitoring the output voltage through the sense pins and disabling the switch if needed.
The MAX5064BATC can drive both N-channel and P-channel MOSFETs requiring only two devices to configure a half-bridge power switch. A single-ended gate drive is delivered from each of the OUT and /OUT pins. Furthermore, devices in the MAX5064BATC family provide paralleling capability. The MAX5064BATC provides a level shifter that boosts the gate voltage to 20V to ensure high reliability.
The MAX5064BATC features fast propagation delays of 2.5 ns, enabling efficiently switching in less than 10 ns.
