The MAX5070BASA-T is a monolithic synchronous step-down DC-DC switching voltage regulator controller. Its features, such as a wide operating input voltage range, low quiescent current, adjustable switching frequency, and programmable peak current limit using the I2C interface make it suitable for a variety of different applications.
This device is mainly used as a DC-DC switching voltage regulator controller and can work in two different modes: buck and sepic (single-ended primary-inductor converter). In buck mode, the input voltage is regulated to within a few hundred millivolts of the regulated voltage, while in sepic mode the input voltage is regulated to within a few millivolts of the regulated voltage. This makes the device ideal for applications where extreme accuracy is required.
The MAX5070BASA-T also offers programmable switching frequency which is adjustable from 600kHz to 1.2MHz. It also features an integrated PWM generator to set the average on-time of the switching cycle as well as an I2C interface to program the peak current limit. The I2C interface also allows for additional features such as remote sensing, trimming and settings for output voltage and current.
In addition, the MAX5070BASA-T also offers a variety of protection features designed to keep the device and the system from damage due to overvoltage, overtemperature, overcurrent, undervoltage and other conditions.
