The MAX6307UK40D1-T is a push-pull supervisory circuit designed specifically for portable instrumentation, cellular phones, and digital cameras. It is packaged in a small, ultra-thin, thermally enhanced 12-pin QFN (Qillified No-Lead) package and designed with advanced CMOS and BiCMOS technologies for very low power consumption.
The MAX6307UK40D1-T is a supervisor primarily used for system reset, push-pull and open-drain reset output, system sequencing, power-on reset, or low voltage reset (LVR). This single-chip solution provides a wide-input operation range from +1.4V to +4.2V and operation down to 1.2V for use in Li-Ion battery-fed applications. It is also optimized for use in Li-ion or LiPo battery-powered systems, providing accurate monitoring and system reset at the predetermined battery voltage threshold before the battery voltage fall to an unsafe level.
The MAX6307UK40D1-T has a host of user-configurable functions and settings such as windowed watchdog timer, manual reset, active-low and active-high reset outputs with push-pull or open-drain reset, as well as adjustable reset timeout delay and debounce. In addition, the internal reset circuit can be programmed to delay the reset assertion between 150ms and 1s (typ).
The MAX6307UK40D1-T typically is used to monitor the main power supplies and generate a reset pulse if the system voltage drops below a predetermined reset threshold or if the processor or system fails to perform. It also ensures that the power supplies are properly sequencing during a system power-up event. It has a tristate output buffer with an active-high and an open-drain active-low reset outputs. Both the active-high reset and active-low reset outputs can be individually configured with a push-pull or open-drain reset mode. Furthermore, the MAX6307UK40D1-T is configured with an adjustable windowed watchdog timer to ensure that the system is functioning correctly or reset has not gotten stuck. The watchdog timer can be programmed for a reset time-out period of 3ms to 180ms.
The MAX6307UK40D1-T features an enable input pin which is useful for additional system control and power management. The internal reset circuit has also a minimum reset assertion time of 150ms that usually is enough time to reduce ringing voltage in power supply noise filtering applications. It also has an adjustable debouncer circuit to filter out transients caused by faults in power supply. This helps to reduce false reset pulses during power up and power-down events.
The MAX6307UK40D1-T provides a supervisory solution with very low power consumption, better accuracy and minimal external components to lower overall system cost, size and weight. It also offers a low quiescent current for battery-operated applications and a 2% accuracy threshold for LVR detection.
