The MAX6344SUT+T is a Supervisory Circuits circuit from Maxim with an extensive set of features making it well suited for many power management applications. It provides an array of features to control system power, including fault protection, under-voltage supervision, over-voltage supervision and current-sense monitoring. It is widely used in power supply system monitoring, data center server power management, battery gauge, device health monitoring, system logging and recording, short-circuit current protection and temperature monitoring.

The MAX6344SUT+T consists of a low-power (less than 3mW) T-type Supervisor, which monitors the voltage at two pins (VIN and VOUT) and alarms if the voltage falls below its trip point, also a SUT type Supervisor monitors other two pins (VON and VOFF), and alarms if the voltage is out of its trip points, namely, if the voltage is above or below the designated target. The trip points can be easily programmed by an external resistor divider. In addition, the core of the device is an on-chip voltage supervisor, voltage regulator, and current sense monitor, actively monitoring the voltage level and alerting the system when faults occur.

The MAX6344SUT+T also includes a versatile Watchdog Timer. The Watchdog Timer provides a time-out function for resetting the system when the system is off-line due to an overload. It can respond and reset the system within 15ms of the fault occurrence. The Watchdog Timer has three different functions, namely, Off-line Mode, Pulse Reset Mode and System Reset Mode. The Off-line Mode allows the chip to still operate even when the system goes offline, thus providing continued protection even when the system is not running. The Pulse Reset Mode resets the chip and alerts the system of a fault, while the System Reset Mode resets the entire system.

In addition to these core features, the MAX6344SUT+T contains an on-chip low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulator with both 1A and 2A maximum output capabilities. The regulator can provide a regulated output voltage from 3.2V to 13.2V. It is able to operate with an input voltage range from 3V to 18V, making it suitable for a variety of applications. Furthermore, it has Programmable Undervoltage Lockout (PVLO) and Overvoltage Shutdown (OVP) to provide additional protection for the power supply system.

The MAX6344SUT+T also has an on-chip current-sense monitor, which allows the device to monitor the system load current in real-time and generate an interrupt signal when overcurrent is detected. This feature also makes it possible to monitor the current draw of multiple devices and provide a warning when the total current draw is greater than what the system can safely handle. Additionally, the current-sense monitor is able to measure the current drawn by each individual device.
