MAX6365HKA29-T belongs to the series of micro-power supervisors, also known as the Power Management and Control Integrated Circuit, in short PMIC. This product includes overvoltage detection and circuit reset to help prevent electric circuit damage from overvoltage events. Its multiple independent inputs keep the electric circuit and devices from the hazard like power supply failure, improper voltage input, and signal instability, etc.

The basic function of micro-power supervisors, like MAX6365HKA29-T, is to monitor the function of electric circuit, analyse the abnormal states and exert corrective measures. In certain applications, the supervisors are often used to monitor a supply voltage, very often a single voltage like 5V, 1V or 0.8V. In addition, they control a processor’s reset, providing necessary functionalities to build system safe functions.

The application field covers from industrial device to personal portable electronic device including routers, television, home appliance, car electronic engine, etc. For example, routers use the supervisors for power supply management, so that all parts of the router\'s electronic system can get the correct supply voltage and setup the correct timning for the system start up.

The working principle behind MAX6365HKA29-T is interactive voltage monitoring. It has two inputs, one is the power supply and another is a reference input which is also named threshold voltage, VTH. Their values are compared and if VTH is greater then the VDD input, then the chip will perform another function. If the VTH input rises to exceed the VDD input, the supervisor will shutdown the VDD then prevent the electric circuit from working abnormally.

The MAX6365HKA29-T chip also includes a reset function. It will provide the reset signal when the voltage reach the maximum voltage and the reset signal will last until the voltage get back to the normal value. Both the shutdown and reset functions are available. The delay time can be programmed by the external capacitor and external resistor, so that user can choose the proper delay time for their application.

In addition, the MAX6365HKA29-T chip provides the precise unit of protection for device from abnormal environmental condition. Its protection level could reach up to 118V with plus interval up to 5V and minimal interval up to 0.8V. It’s also designed to keep a very low power consumption with 9μA for the quiescent current and about 1uA for backup current.
