The MAX6385XS35D5-T supervises a single positive systems-level supply and has a power-on reset output that can cause a reset signal to be generated for integrated circuits (ICs) in the system. This supervisor provides two reset modes; a power on reset (POR) and a manual reset (MR).The reset pulse width and threshold voltages are factory preset and are programmable from 1.2V to 5.5V.

This device has a low operating supply current of 500nA and is designed to work within –40°C to 85°C temperature range. This device is suitable for applications like computers and peripherals, communication systems, instrumentation and control, industrial process controller and data storage systems.

Power-on reset (POR) is an important function of the MAX6385XS35D5-T. In most of the applications, POR is needed to guarantee that the system starts reliably. The POR signal asserts the reset signal when the supervised supply voltage VDD is rising and when it reaches the threshold voltage of 1.2V - 5.5V. It holds the reset signal low until VDD decreases below 1.1V and then it is released and returned to the high logic state.

Manual reset (MR) is another feature of the device. Its primary purpose is to reset the logic chain if a reset condition is required and a reset pulse is not detected from the power-on reset function. This is usually accomplished by grounding the MR pin. It generates an intermittent reset pulse for each rising edge applied to the MR pin and keeps the reset active as long as the reset pin is asserted.

The MAX6385XS35D5-T is designed to minimize power consumption and is designed to operate over the extended temperature ranges of -40°C to 85°C and is housed in an 8-lead TDFN package. This PMIC supervisor combines all of the safety and resetting capabilities of a power supervisor in one integrated circuit with minimal power consumption and solution size. It is suitable for applications where low power consumption and extended temperature ranges are required.
