The MAX6385XS41D1-T is a radio frequency and low-frequency voltage supervisor intended for use in personal portable electronic systems and distributed system power systems applications. It integrates a voltage monitoring circuit that senses radio-frequency and low-frequency power supply voltages and features an active low open-drain power-on reset output. This device has a nominal supply voltage of 3.3V, a voltage monitoring range of 1.625V to 5.5V, 1% accurate threshold accuracy at 0.8V to 5.5V, and a reset monitor low-frequent and asynchronous threshold of 2.385V to 5.5V.

The MAX6385XS41D1-T also integrates a real-time clock power on reset timer or programmable reset timer. This device is not limited by the size of its package and is available in the 5x5 mm 40-TQFN package, which makes it suitable for applications with limited space. The MAX6385XS41D1-T is capable of accepting VDD from 1.8V to 5.5V, enabling flexibility in voltage monitoring and reset signalling over various power domains.

The MAX6385XS41D1-T provides a user-selectable reset delay to ensure that the reset signal does not de-assert prematurely. The power-on reset delay range is between 50 ms to 500 ms, based on a control pin setting. This flexibility provides longer reset de-assertion times which helps to ensure a quiet power up environment. Additionally, the RESET_OUT pin of the MAX6385XS41D1-T is used to directly drive large FETs.

The MAX6385XS41D1-T employs a two charger power-up startup sequence to minimize stress on the application’s power supply. The MAX6385XS41D1-T is also equipped with a power-fail input (PFI) for alternative power supply applications, such as a triple battery system. When the PFI pin is asserted, the MAX6385XS41D1-T asserts the RESET_OUT pin and hold the RESET signal until the voltage supervisor is reset, eliminating the need to manually reset the system.

The integrated 740-ms delay timer in the MAX6385XS41D1-T allows the system to start up in a controlled manner, preventing a surge in power consumption. This timer can be used to reset the Voltage Supervisor after a specified timeout period, or it can be used to hold the RESET signal low until a predetermined delay. The timer can also be used to generate delayed reset after a power fail or power-fail warning event.

In addition to its voltage supervisor functions, the MAX6385XS41D1-T provides integrated power protections, such as brown-out detection, reverse-battery prevention, under-voltage protection, and over-voltage protection. It also features current-limiting protection for the embedded charges. The MAX6385XS41D1-T monitors battery voltage levels and allows for selective charging of the battery via a programmable charger current-limit register.

The MAX6385XS41D1-T is an ideal system power supervisor for distributed, personal portable, and Internet of Things applications. It provides efficient monitoring of multiple power rails and maintains integrity of the power supply system during power-ups, power-downs and power-fail warning events. Additionally, the integrated reset timer and programmable charger current-limit register provides better user control of the system power supply and prevents excessive power consumption.
