The MAX6388XS43D7-T is a low-power, low-voltage, low-dropout supervisory circuit designed to monitor small supply voltages in a variety of applications. It is a two-terminal device that operates over a wide input voltage range and provides a single active-low reset output (RESET). The MAX6388XS43D7-T is offered in three input voltage ranges, allowing it to be used in applications such as battery back-up (VCC) monitoring, system setting and accuracy, and multi-supply monitoring in integrated circuit (IC) systems.Principle of Operation:
The MAX6388XS43D7-T supervisory circuit monitors a single power supply voltage and asserts a reset signal if the voltage level falls below the threshold. The threshold may be set with an external resistor or with the internal Time-OUT latch. The reset signal is an active-low signal (RESET) that is asserted when the supply voltage dips below the threshold or the Time-OUT latch is triggered. In its normal operating state, the device checks the supply voltage on a continuous basis. When the supply voltage falls below the threshold, the MAX6388XS43D7-T assert a reset signal. The reset active is reset until the supply voltage returns to a normal level. In many applications, the device can be used to detect a supply voltage sag or fault that lasts a very short amount of time (under 10 μs). If a fault or sag is detected, the RESET output is asserted, forcing the system to initiate a complete system reset. In order to prevent false reset assertion, the input voltage must stay below the threshold for both increasing and decreasing direction for at least the time-out period.The Time-OUT latch can be used to generate an additional reset signal. The latch is set when the supply voltage reaches below the threshold. After the latch is asserted, an extended low voltage condition is required before the RESET signal will reset to its normal state. This extended reset can also be used to initiate a system reset during warm-up or to recover from an abnormal power-up condition.Applications and Features:
The MAX6388XS43D7-T is suitable for a wide range of applications, including those in the consumer, automotive, industrial, and computer markets, where supply voltages may be noisy or subject to abrupt changes. The MAX6388XS43D7-T can be used in handheld, portable, and battery-powered devices, as well as in vehicles, to guard against supply voltage brownouts and overvoltage conditions.
