MAX6413UK44+T is a low-dropout, three-terminal supervisory IC for monitoring 3.3V to 5.5V supplies in microprocessor systems. It detects an out-of-tolerance supply voltage and asserts an active-low reset signal, RESET, to restart the system. This MAX6413UK44+T device provides an internal delay from the moment the supply voltage falls below its reset monitoring voltage, VIT, to the assertion of the RESET signal. This delay is user selectable.

Working Principle

The MAX6413UK44+T supervisor monitors the power supply voltage with a precision comparator that has an adjustable threshold voltage. If the supply voltage falls below the threshold voltage, the device asserts an active-low reset signal, RESET, until the supply voltage rises above the reset threshold. The reset threshold is programmable with a user-supplied external resistor.

The MAX6413UK44+T supervisor also includes an internal reset timer to prevent the system from staying in reset for long periods of time. After asserting a RESET and detecting a supply-voltage rise above the reset threshold voltage VIT, the MAX6413UK44+T asserts a pulsed reset output for a duration determined by the reset timeout. The reset timeout is user-programmable from 30 ms to 1.4 s.

The MAX6413UK44+T supervisor has an open-drain manual reset input, MR, which can be used to manually reset the system. An external pull-up resistor connected to VDD must be used on the MR pin. The MAX6413UK44+T supervisor also has a power-fail warning output, PFW, which does not reset the system but goes low when the VIN falls below the PFW threshold.
