MAX6461XR18+T

The MAX6461XR18+T is a low-cost, fixed reset voltage, microprocessor supervisory circuit fabricated in Maxim Integrated’s advanced submicron CMOS process, which is a variation of their popular MAX6461X family. It\'s designed to monitor microprocessor functions and provide system power-on reset. The MAX6461XR18+T application field and working principle not only covers a wide range of microprocessor-based systems but also allows wider range of operating-voltage capabilities.

The basic operation of the MAX6461XR18+T Supervisor is to maintain a valid reset signal to the system in the event of a power-on, brownout, or microprocessor malfunction. This is done by monitoring the power supply busses to detect dropouts and brown-outs and holding reset low when a valid supply is not present. The MAX6461XR18+T also has the added capability to detect a "halt" condition of the microprocessor, allowing the circuit to hold the reset active if the microprocessor stalls or otherwise fails to exit reset properly. The MAX6461X family provides a wide range of operating voltage capabilities to cover nearly all of today\'s applications, from 2.4V to 6.0V.

The MAX6461XR18+T also provides a manual reset input that allows the user to initiate a hardware reset. If the WDT is not reset within the timeout period, the MAX6461XR18+T asserts a reset output, ensuring that the system does not enter an unknown state.
