MAX6605MXK+T is a temperature sensor from Maxim Integrated which is widely used in the field of temperature measurement for an ample list of reasons. This article will attempt to understand the application field and working principle of MAX6605MXK+T.The MAX6605MXK+T is a fully integrated, +T suffix temperature sensor that offers an analog output voltage accurately proportional to the ambient temperature. It is designed for quantitative measurement of temperature in consumer electronics, communication, industrial systems, medical devices and safety systems. The device operates over a wide temperature range from -40°C to +125°C. It is available in space saving, 2 mm x 3 mm ThinSOT and 5-pin TDFN package, making it suitable for tightly spaced applications such as low profile heat sinks, temperature measurement of small components, and space-constrained system designs. The MAX6605MXK+T has a single-ended, analog voltage-output, which is a ratiometric curve of the VDD supply voltage and ambient temperature. The maximum range of the voltage output is 0V to 2.75V in the temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. The 10mV/°C temperature coefficient provides a high resolution in temperature measurement and helps to accurately track the temperature. The device includes many features such as shutdown and fault detection, rail-to-rail output swing, low temperature accuracy of ±1.0°C, low quiescent current of 0.2μA, and excellent power-supply noise rejection of greater than 85dB. The alarm output (ALERT) can be driven either expo-nentially, as a function of temperature, or linearly, as a function of the ADC value. In the previous versions, high accuracy was achievable only using expensive external components. MAX6605MXK+T, however, uses a single chip to accomplish high accuracy of ±1.0°C temperature measurement. The temperature sensor is pre-calibrated at the factory and the accuracy temperature definitions are independent of the supply voltage level. The wide dynamic range and high accuracy of the MAX6605MXK+T helps to increase the performance of consumer electronics and applications such as microprocessors, displays, mobile phones, and digital cameras. Furthermore, it is equipped with a low offset drift of about 0.6°C over the temperature range, making it perfect for temperature management of sensitive components and military applications. In conclusion, the MAX6605MXK+T is an ideal choice for high performance temperature measurement applications.
