Working principle:

The MAX669EUB/V+T is designed to operate as a buck, boost, or inverting regulator with synchronous rectification in buck mode and an external, N-channel MOSFET switch. MAX669EUB/V+T is using the principle of transformer-coupled buck and boost topologies. The applied AC voltage is converted to a suitable output voltage level by varying the duty cycle of the internal switch. The MAX669EUB/V+T can be used in a wide range of applications, providing excellent step-down and step-up conversion for input voltage range exceeding 2V to 80V. The MAX669EUB/V+T operates as an adjustable regulator with a high-side switch and external synchronous switch, while the internal control loop, together with the external PWM signal, helps in regulating the output voltage.

The high-side switch, controlled by the MAX669EUB/V+T, manages the power-on reset signal, protects the low voltage side port using a series of resistors, and turn on and off the synchronous switch. The on-time signal provided by the MAX669EUB/V+T is used to control the switching of the synchronous switch. In addition, the MAX669EUB/V+T provides a PWM signal for controlling the output voltage.
