The MAX6707MKA+T is a supervisor IC that provides CPU-based systems with precision reset, manual reset (MR) pin, low-voltage detect (LVD) warning, power-on reset (POR) sequencing and watch-dog timer (WDT) features. The MAX6707MKA+T integrates an Ethridge Supervisory Circuit (ESC) and an on-chip oscillator providing windowed WDT. It is designed to monitor the activity of microprocessors and take action according to user-defined parameters. To simplify board layout and reduce board space requirements, the MAX6707MKA+T is available in a Leadless Chip Carrier (LCC) package.

Working Principle

The MAX6707MKA+T consists of a Supervisory Circuit (ESC), oscillator, manual reset (MR) pin, low-voltage detect (LVD) warning, power-on reset (POR) sequencing and watch-dog timer (WDT). When the power supply falls below the trip point of the power-on reset (POR) circuit, the reset output is asserted. The reset output is also asserted on the negative edge of the manual reset (MR) pin. The Supervisory Circuit (ESC) monitors the activity of the system and if the system fails to switch within the timeout period, the WDT will be asserted and the reset output will be asserted. The LVD circuit monitors the system supply voltage with respect to an external reference voltage and if the system supply voltage falls below the LVD trip point, the reset output is asserted and the LVD output is asserted.

The MAX6707MKA+T also provides a one-time programmable (OTP) feature which allows the user to store a user-defined value in a non-volatile memory. A reset output is also available which can be used to generate an interrupt to the microprocessor. The reset output pulse width is controlled by the on-chip RC oscillator. The oscillator can be programmed via an external resistor and a capacitor. The RESET signal is generated if the system fails to switch within the timeout period. The low-voltage detect (LVD) and the window-watchdog timer (WDT) can be programmed via an external resistor divider network.
