Application

The MAX6719UTYHD3+ can be used to monitor up to three power rails with independent over-voltage and under-voltage thresholds and detect power-on reset (POR) conditions related to the loss of a main supply, the inrush of a main supply and an internal power-on surge. The device features an integrated reset generator that is designed to provide both power-on reset as well as a delayed reset after the power rails reach their stable operation values, making it suitable for a wide variety of DC-DC converters. The integrated 260ms delay helps the system by avoiding power supply ramps due to dynamic load conditions such as soft-start, system load changes and other load transients.

Working Principle

Essentially the MAX6719UTYHD3+ monitors the power supply rails in the system and triggers a reset signal whenever one of the monitored power rails falls outside its configured threshold values. The device is also able to detect a power-on reset condition and can issue a reset signal within 0.1ms after Vin goes from 0V to above the reset threshold. This reset is issued together with an enable signal which can be used to prevent non-reset related logic from reacting to the reset signal. Additionally, the device features an integrated reset generator which produces a reset signal with a fixed 260ms delay after power rails reach their stable operation values.The device features two separate monitor blocks, each designed to monitor one power rail while the other block remains in a standby state. The two monitor outputs (MV1, MV2) and the reset enable signal (REN) can be used to trigger external logic.
