Application Field of MAX6791TPSD2+T

The MAX6791TPSD2+T is a new generation of supervisor ICs which is designed to monitor multiple power rails and/or input voltages of an electronic system. With two independant voltage channels that are designed for monitoring two separate power supplies, MAX6791TPSD2+T offers improved signal accuracy, a low detection voltage, wide temperature range and miniaturization. It boasts a wide operating voltage range from 2.7V to 5.5V, allowing it to be used in the majority of systems.

In addition to its primary application as a power supply supervisor, it is also able to monitor slow moving supply signals that remain within their valid operating range for extended periods of time. Working Principle of MAX6791TPSD2+T

The operating principle of the MAX6791TPSD2+T is similar to other power supply supervisors. When it detects a power rail voltage or input voltage level that is not within specification, it will assert a reset or interrupt signal, or it may trigger an external MOSFET switch to regulate the output. The microprocessor can then be informed of the error condition via an interrupt.

The MAX6791TPSD2+T integrates two independant voltage level monitors, each can be programmed either for power on reset (POR) or window watchdog (WWD). When one of these two monitors detect that its input voltage is either below or above its programmed threshold during a monitor cycle period, an output reset or interrupt signal will be generated.
