The MAX6800UR29D2+T is a low-quiescent-current, microprocessor supervisor with factory-programmed reset timeout, manual reset ( MR ), push-button reset ( PBR ), and processor-reset pulse generation circuitry. This allows the supervisor to provide instant-on capability or allow the system power to remain on when the microprocessor is held in reset. MAX6800UR29D2+T is a series of versatile microprocessor supervisory circuits that minimize the number of components required to monitor microprocessor-based systems.

Application Field of MAX6800UR29D2+T

The MAX6800UR29D2+T provides system designers with accurate monitoring of (1) RESET and VCC-Detect thresholds from 2.7V down to 1.2V, (2) system power-on reset, (3) microprocessor reset, and (4) manual reset initiation. The MAX6800UR29D2+T is designed for use in a wide range of microprocessor-based applications. It is especially useful in systems requiring precision microprocessor reset assert-time control. Applications include notebook computers, PDAs, cellular phones, instrumentation, communication systems, medical instruments, automotive systems, and other systems with microprocessors.

Working Principle of MAX6800UR29D2+T

The MAX6800UR29D2+T reset and VCC-Detect circuits monitor the rail voltage at the microprocessor supply voltage ( Vcc ) and the external reset input. If the voltage is below the reset threshold, the MAX6800UR29D2+T will assert the RSTn output for a sufficient period of time to ensure that the power-on reset and microprocessor reset requirements are met. The retry feature allows the MAX6800UR29D2+T to continually monitor VCC for power-on reset and reset threshold timeout. The MAX6800UR29D2+T has an externally adjustable reset timeout period and can be programmed with a range of values, selectable in 10ms increments. The reset timeout period can be extended up to 16.6 seconds. This feature is useful in applications where the microprocessor requires extended reset assert times before system initialization can be completed.

The MAX6800UR29D2+T also has a push-button reset (PBR) pin that can be used to assert the reset signal immediately. When RESET is actively driven low, the MAX6800UR29D2+T immediately asserts the RSTn output.
