Working Principle

The MAX6854UK29D4+T controls power switchings and sequencing by monitoring four power supplies and the voltage of a battery or reference. The Voltage Monitor uses a three-level accuracy loop plus the user-programmable hysteresis for each power supply and is equipped with a hysteresis latch.The MAX6854UK29D4+T features an integrated Power-On Reset (POR) circuit, watching for the voltage of each power supply to cross the POR threshold voltage. When the voltage reaches this level, the circuit is internally set and a fault signal is output. If the system manager detects an open- or a short-circuit condition between power supplies, if the voltage of the power supply is too low, or if the voltage threshold is exceeded, a manual reset is required. In order to guarantee safety, the MAX6854UK29D4+T is equipped with a manual reset. If any of the monitored signals fails, the circuit detects impaired functionality and signals an alarm.
