Working Principle:

The MAX6865UK17D6S+T device can detect thermal trips, undervoltage events and reset outputs for system safe operation. For reset monitoring, it supports three reset inputs: Power-On Reset (POR), Low-Power Reset (LPI) and a cable reset input, which can detect an opens or shorts in a cable connection from a system console. The device also includes a temperature sensor with over-temperature protection, and a Multiple Analog-Voltage Monitors (MAV2T) ADC which can measure two independent analog voltages. This device can signal a reset before any damage occurring to the system.

The reset outputs include two user-programmable RESETOUT, RESETOUT_LP, UVLO, WDI, NR_and two hard wired LVPWRON and Thermal Trip outputs which can be used to complete the safety system. In addition, the device includes a supply Supervisor which features a soft-start, short-circuit protection, shutdown control and a 6 MHz oscillator that generates a periodic pulses used by the device.
