Working Principle

The MAX690ACSA-T employs a versatile power control architecture based on the proven buck switching regulator topology. It is designed to sense, limit and route the power supply voltage and current to multiple components within a system. In operation, a voltage is applied at the input, VIN, and routed through a series of internal switches, referred to as ‘current-sensing’ and ‘voltage-sensing’ switches. These switches are used to sense and limit the input voltages and currents, as well as route them to the desired outputs.The MAX690ACSA-T also includes a configurable leading-edge blanking (LEB) circuit, which ensures that the voltage and current limits are constantly monitored, even when the load draw changes abruptly. Moreover, the LEB circuit allows the power supply response time to the load current to be adjusted, in order to eliminate false trips or excessive current loads.In addition, the MAX690ACSA-T features an open-drain MODE output which is used to indicate the current-limit and over-voltage limit status of the power supply. This output can also be used as an enable output when using the MAX690ACSA-T in dual-mode applications.
